Transatlantické ekonomické vzťahy - prichádza čas na ich oživenie?

Ekonomické vzťahy medzi EÚ a USA patria k najdôležitejším súčastiam svetovej ekonomiky. Svojím rozsahom obchodu s tovarmi, službami, ale najmä priamymi zahraničnými investíciami (PZI) vytvárajú komplex, ktorý tvorí pridanú hodnotu obrovského objemu. Vzhľadom na blízkosť a historickú prepojenosť by sa dala očakávať efektívna a bezproblémová hospodárska spolupráca. Naznačuje to i pomerne nízka hodnota ciel, ktorá je v súčasnosti na úrovni asi 2 až 5 %. Avšak v poslednom období sa čím viac relevantnejším problémom stávajú regulácie, ktoré neumožňujú resp. komplikujú vstup firiem na európsky alebo americký trh. Najmä divergencie v reguláciách sú zároveň často spomínané ako oblasť s obrovským potenciálom. Spolu s pretrvávajúcou dlhovou a ekonomickou krízou v Európe a neistým rastom americkej ekonomiky sa otázka odstránenia (ne)tarifných bariér javí ako "bezbolestné" riešenie, ktoré by vzhľadom na hlbokú integráciu mohlo výsledky v rokovaniach o novej obchodnej zmluve priniesť pomerne rýchlo. Táto stať analyzuje súčasný vývoj transatlantických ekonomických vzťahov so zameraním na konkrétne kroky, ktoré boli podniknuté v súvislosti s diskusiou o prehlbovaní ekonomickej intergrácie medzi EÚ a USA.

Transatlantic Economic Relations - Is the Time for their Resurgance Coming?

The economic relations between the EU and the US are considered the most significant part of the global economy. With the size of trade with goods, services and Foreign Direct Investment, the transatlantic space creates a large of added value. Regarding the proximity and historical ties between the regions, one might expect more efficient cooperation. This is also underlined by relatively low tariff barriers (2-5%). However in recent years, trade regulations have become an increasingly complex issue. The elimination of the divergent regulations is seen as possibly bringing mutual profits. In the light of the persisting economic and debt crisis in Europe, together with slow growth of the US economy, the removal of (non) tariff barriers appeals as a no-pain resolution, which might result in the negotiation of a new trade agreement relatively soon. This paper analyzes current development of the transatlantic economic relations with a focus on concrete steps that have been made with regard to the current debates about deepening economic integration between the EU and the US.
